Walk 30 Miles in September

🌟 I need your support! 🌟

I'm walking 30 miles in September for the Irish Cancer Society. Every donation, big or small, brings me one step closer to my fundraising target and helps cancer patients and their families.

Will you join me in making a difference? 🙌

Together, we can make it happen! 💪

My Updates

Past the 50 mile point!

Tuesday 30th Sep
Delighted to say that having completed slight more than a mile with the dogs earlier yeaterday afternoon, followed by close to five miles with a close friend yesterday evening means that my total now stands at 51.5 miles! One day left to see how close to 60 miles I can get!

Almost at 40 miles

Tuesday 23rd Sep
Another long walk yesterday evening with friends brings the total up to 39.7 miles 😀

Emerging from an intense treatmentweek

Sunday 21st Sep
It's always hard to manage getting out of the house during this week of Lauren's treatment but delighted to say I've managed another 3.5 miles over the last few evenings! Lauren emerged from the fog of medicines to join me on a mini walk this evening. Total distance now 34.5 miles.

A short evening stroll after a long treatment day at Crumlin

Tuesday 16th Sep
Managed to grab a short 1.5 mile walk this evening after a long treatment day in Crumlin. Lauren takes oral chemo every day but every four weeks she has to go in for iv chemo, an iv antibiotic to prevent her getting pneumonia (she is constantly immuno compromised) and she also takes high dose steroids for 5 days. Today she also had a chest xray. The next few days are always tough as the chemo gives her jaw pains, the steroids affect her mood and give her leg pains and she can have very little energy. As usual Lauren faced today head on and proved how strong she really is.

Almost at 30 miles

Monday 15th Sep
Another short walk this morning in Marlay brings my total to 29.5 miles! I'm now going to try to hit 60 miles by the end of September.

Back to Dublin

Sunday 14th Sep
Another short walk this morning with the dogs brings my total to 28.25 miles!

Walking in Cornwall last week

Sunday 14th Sep
One of Lauren's biggest wishes since she was diagnosed in June 2024 was to get back to Cornwall to surf. She worked so hard to get her central line removed at the start of the summer in order to make this happen. Last week, we travelled to Watergate Bay and she had a ball back in the surf! I managed to do some walking on the beach too. Total distance after Cornwall was 26.5 miles completed!

22 miles and counting!

Tuesday 9th Sep
A mammoth 6 mile walk on Monday evening with a great group of friends brings my individual total up to 22 miles! After two walks in one day, I fell into bed last night!!!

Early morning mile in Marlay Park

Tuesday 9th Sep
Izzy, Pixie and I had a lovely early morning walk in Marlay on Monday morning. I always think of my uncle David when I walk there... particularly on a beautiful morning when the views of the mountains are so clear. Another mile added to the total!

15 miles and counting

Sunday 7th Sep
Another 4.8 miles walked over the weekend making my distance so far just over 15 miles..... and I have already smashed my individual fundraising goal of 2000 euro! Team Lauren's total now stands at over 3400 euro!!! I can't begin to tell you how much your support means to me.   The Irish Cancer Society provide practical support to families in similar circumstances to ours especially during the first few weeks after a life-changing diagnosis of a child. Thank you to all of you who have supported Team Lauren so generously.

10 miles and counting!

Saturday 6th Sep
Just over 1.5 miles walked with the dogs again yesterday evening! 10.25 miles completed so far. Am completely bowled over by all the support I've received. Thank you so much

Day 3... Rainy day walk

Wednesday 3rd Sep
Another 1.5 miles walked this evening once the rain died down! The sausage dog doesn't do wet days so just me and Izzy this evening!

A short evening stroll after Lauren's treatment

Tuesday 2nd Sep
Lauren was in the hospital early this morning for a lumbar puncture and chemo into her spine so no big walks today but still managed to get in 1.49 miles this evening with Pixie and Izzy for company 😀

Day 1 complete

Tuesday 2nd Sep
Thank you so much for all the support already! I've already smashed my original fundraising goal! After a really tough year with minimal exercise due to the intensity of Lauren's treatment, it feels great to be out walking again. After a short walk around the block with the dogs in the morning, my first big walk of 4.6 miles was completed last night! I am also teaming up with some friends to do this challenge and we hope to far exceed the individual goal of 30 miles.

Thank you to my Sponsors
