About Big Pink Breakfast 2025
The Irish Cancer Society is a community determined to transform cancer as we know it in Ireland. We are pushing for a future where fewer people get cancer, 10 in 10 people survive it and everyone who needs it has access to the best treatment and care. To achieve this, quite simply, We. Won’t. Stop.
Your impact on our 2024 breast cancer-specific services
- You funded more than 5,150 free lifts to bring breast cancer patients to and from their treatment nationwide through the Irish Cancer Society Transport Service.
- You funded over 5,330 free counselling sessions to help breast cancer patients cope with their diagnosis.
- You helped fund more than 380 nights of Night Nursing care, to allow breast cancer patients to die at home, surrounded by their loved ones.
- You enabled more than 5,350 supportive and comforting conversations with people affected by breast cancer through the Irish Cancer Society Support Line and Daffodil Centres nationwide.
Breast cancer research we fund:
- Your generosity turns our researcher’s passion into progress for breast cancer patients – finding ways to improve their quality of life during and after breast cancer.
- Our researchers are working to predict which treatment will work best for breast cancer patients to help more patients avoid unnecessarily harsh treatments which can have damaging side effects.
- Another project is working to improve treatment for breast cancer patients whose cancer spreads to their brain.
- One researcher is looking at breast cancer recurrence and how dormant breast cancer cells play a part in this.
- Your generous support also allows breast cancer patients to access innovative clinical trials, through our funding of Clinical Trials Ireland. Clinical Trials Ireland are currently running 5 clinical trials for breast cancer patients, researching new and improved treatments, and improving the care and quality of life of patients with more trials opening soon.
