I’m going all in against cancer this Daffodil Day and raising funds to support cancer patients and their families across Ireland.

On March 28th 2025, Mullinahone will paint Mullinahone yellow for the Irish Cancer Society and in support of Sophie Quirke.

 

In solidarity with the Quirke family, #Mullinahone5K4DaffodilDay 2025 is dedicated to supporting the Children and Young Adult (CAYA) programme with the Irish Cancer Society. This fund provides grants to all families of young children diagnosed with cancer. All monies raised on the day will be ringfenced for this programme.

2025 Mullinahone Daffodil Day fund ringfenced for Children and Young Adult (CAYA) programme with the Irish Cancer Society - in solidarity and support of Sophie Quirke and family.

On March 28th 2025, Mullinahone will paint Mullinahone yellow for the Irish Cancer Society and in support of Sophie Quirke.

In solidarity with the Quirke family, #Mullinahone5K4DaffodilDay 2025 is dedicated to supporting the Children and Young Adult (CAYA) programme with the Irish Cancer Society. This fund provides grants to all families of young children diagnosed with cancer. All monies raised on the day will be ringfenced for this programme.


Irish Cancer Society CAYA supports and services Activity Camps

•            Irish Cancer Society residential camps: We offer free residential camps for families and young adults affected by cancer. These camps allow families and young adults to spend time making memories and meeting others going through the same experiences.

•            In-hospital support: Our children’s cancer nurse at Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin hospital provides free, confidential advice, support and information to anyone affected by a child’s cancer.

•            The Children’s Fund: We provide a grant of up to €3,000 for families of children undergoing cancer treatment nationwide.

•            Creative arts therapy –The Irish Cancer Society offers free Creative Arts Therapy support for Children, Adolescents and Young Adults (CAYA) - and their siblings - with or in survivorship of cancer (0-24). Creative Arts Therapies include: Art Therapy, Dramatherapy, and Music Therapy and can be used to support the psychosocial needs of a young person. This service is available nationwide, at home or as locally as possible.

•            Irish Cancer Society Fertility Project : Sometimes, children’s cancer treatment can affect their future fertility. The Childhood Cancer Fertility Project offers free fertility preservation and assessment, in addition to other services for young people with a cancer diagnosis.

•            Parent peer support: Our trained volunteers are available to provide emotional and practical support to anyone whose child is going through or finished their treatment. This service is also available to other adult family members.

•            Complementary therapies - The Julie Wren Complementary Therapy Service funded by the Irish Cancer Society is a haven on St John’s Ward in Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) at Crumlin. This service provides complementary therapies to children and their families while receiving treatment in hospital as part of their plan of care. Complementary therapies provided include: massage, reflexology, Indian head massage, baby massage, aromatherapy, mindfulness, and meditation.

•            Play therapy: We fund accredited play therapists which provides play therapy to children with cancer, and their siblings, helping them cope with a worrying and frightening time.

•            CAYA counselling and psychological support services: We work with cancer support centres nationwide to provide free counselling services, creative therapies, and practical support for those affected and their families.

•            Irish Cancer Society Night Nursing: We provide at home end-of-life care for children, adolescent and young adult cancer patients.

•            Irish Cancer Society CAYA Transport service: This brings children and young adults travelling from Kildare, Meath, Dublin and Wicklow to CHI at Crumlin for treatment.

•            Irish Cancer Society Website & Publications: If your child has been diagnosed with cancer, or you are worried about children’s cancer, visit our website www.cancer.ie/children to read, share or download information, or call our Support Line on Freephone 1800 200 700 for a free copy of our publications.

•            Free Support Line - Our Support Line nurses can give advice on all types of cancer, coping, supports available and more. You can ask to talk to our Children’s Cancer nurse. Our Support Line is free to call on 1800 200 700 for parents of children with cancer.

•            Daffodil Centre - Our Daffodil Centres are located in 13 hospitals nationwide. The centres are staffed by cancer nurses and trained volunteers who provide confidential advice, support and information to anyone affected by cancer, including children and family of children going through cancer.

•            AYA support packs – We provide support packs to all new Adolescents and Young Adults diagnosed with cancer. These packs are in partnership with Boots Ireland. Our packs contain toiletries, water bottles and the Head Plan Journal. A cancer diagnosis impacts the whole family and this small gesture of comfort is our way of letting you know we care.

•            Support for teachers - Cancer in the classroom is an Irish Cancer Society video guide to help school staff to support children and young people affected by cancer.
