A Farewell Filled with Love – And €7,461 Raised to Help Others Fight Cancer
Dear friends,
Thank you — from the bottom of our hearts — to each and every one of you who donated, showed up, and supported our Daffodil Day fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society.
We raised an incredible €7,461 so far!!
This will cover the cost for 248 patients to travel to life-saving medical appointments — something that became very real and personal for our family over the past year.
Cancer is a full-time job. It doesn’t switch off at weekends or pause because you don’t have a lift to the hospital. It drains your energy and makes public transport impossible. The volunteers who drove my father in law Paddy to his appointments when we couldn’t — were a lifeline. We are eternally grateful for that support, and your donations help make this possible for so many other families.
It’s with great sadness that I share that Paddy died on Tuesday morning, surrounded by his loving family and the incredible staff at the Mater Hospital. He fought so bravely, right up until his very last breath. Our hearts are broken.
The last conversation I had with him was about this fundraiser. He was so proud of what we’d achieved — overjoyed by the total we had raised, and touched by the outpouring of support. He was always one of my biggest cheerleaders, especially in my yoga journey, and never missed his Thursday Chair Yoga class until he became too ill to attend. His memory and his love will live on in all that we do.

I lost my dad to throat cancer and my good pal is in her 2nd remission from it and my daughter’s college pal has just been diagnosed with lymphoma at 22 years of age. It touches us all unfortunately!! But the treatments are getting better and better thanks to research and science. You’re a Wonder Woman Christine and hats off to you for organising this fundraiser and sorry I couldn’t get to coffee morning.
