I’m going all in against cancer this Daffodil Day and raising funds to support cancer patients and their families across Ireland.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer just before Daffodil Day in 2023 at just 28 years old. Over the last year, I've completed 8 dose-dense cycles of chemotherapy; 3 surgeries, including a lateral mastectomy, axillary dissection & reconstruction; and 15 sessions of radiotherapy. This was once the toughest experiences of my life in all the ways you’d think of, and many you might not. That said, I had a top-tier medical team and received incredible support from my family, friends, work, and community in Dublin. I am now in remission, having reached the end of the active treatment road, but the journey will go on.
There is nothing easy about navigating the cancer treatment journey at any stage, whether you are undergoing treatment yourself, or are a loved one standing in support. So, for my first Daffodil Day as a cancer survivor, I am asking y’all to please consider donating to a the Irish Cancer Society, a charity that supports cancer research, patients, caretakers, families and communities by providing critical resources and improving survivorship. They were part of the community that made navigating my journey a little bit easier. Together, we can ensure that no one has to go through cancer alone. Thank you!
