We are holding the "Seamus McAveety Tractor Run" on September 6th 2026 to raise funds for "Travel2Care" which is a vital service offered by the Irish Cancer Society for those who need help in travelling to appointments.

This page has been set up so that those who knew him around the world can donate, so please share far and wide.

Below is a piece from Seamus's family and what he meant to them.

Words from His Family:
Our Dad was a strong and kind man who was full of heart. He was always willing to help others, never seeking recognition or praise, but quietly offering support whenever it was needed.

He had a great sense of humour and brought warmth and laughter to those around him.
He was never intrusive or overbearing. Instead, he had a gentle way about him and treated people with respect and kindness. Family, friends, neighbours, and anyone who knew him could rely on his generosity and willingness to lend a hand.

He worked many jobs over the years. Whether it was concreting, building, plastering, fencing, or farming, he could turn his hand to anything and was never afraid to roll up his sleeves and get stuck in.

He loved to cook—the bigger the feed the better—and would share it with anyone who called in. You would never leave his house hungry.

He was a generous man, loved the craic, the pints, and had a great big hearty laugh that would light up the room. Over the years on many a  Christmas afternoon, dinners would be dropped off to anyone living on their own and during the summer months, gardens would be mowed without ever being asked. This showed the quiet generosity that defined him.

He loved his grandchildren and would have the bowl full of buttons and Haribo when they called in to see him.There was always something extra if they ate a good beef dinner too!!!

He had a deep love for animals, the land, the bog, and fishing. He appreciated the simple things in life and found happiness in the outdoors. He believed in hard work and took pride in a job well done. If something was worth doing, it was worth doing well.

He was a man’s man in the truest sense of the word—strong, dependable, hardworking, and caring. Above all else, he was a good man whose love, humour, and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He is deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family and all whose lives he touched.
