As it's Daffodil Day time of year, I'll be getting my head shaved this month to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society. My hair isn't as long as Rapunzel's but I've always kept a bit of length in it (when I was a child, my hair was so short that some people thought that my younger brother and I were twin boys 😐).

I'm really lucky that having a bald head is a choice I get to make. And it's made easy when I think about how the money we raise will help to support the people who don't get that choice, the people who are made so vulnerable by hearing that word about themselves or someone they love. But the Irish Cancer Society is there.

As a result of cancer research, we see more and more people getting to the other side of it and having the lives they deserve; we see people having an easier path through it. And the Irish Cancer Society is helping to fund this research.

The support given by the Irish Cancer Society to people living with cancer and those who love them, both practically and emotionally, is invaluable. I can tell you that firsthand.

I'm doing this because of the people I love who have faced cancer. My partner, James, would get a great laugh out of both of us being bald (although his hair was never going to grow back 😁)
