Can I still host an event this October?

There are lots of ways to get involved and support breast cancer patients and their families. You can sign up to host a coffee morning, organise a fundraiser with your friends, family and community, or sign up to host an event in your workplace.  

You can also sign up to receive a box of pink ribbon pins to sell in your community or workplace.

Is there a specific ‘Pink’ day I should have my event on?

You can host your event whenever suits you! There is no set day or week for your Pink events.

Once you register, you’ll receive access to an online fundraising page, as well as our free fundraising resources and toolkit to help you plan your event.

Are there other ways I can support the campaign?

Absolutely! There are many other ways you can get involved and raise funds to support breast cancer patients this October.  

These include: 

• Selling pink ribbon pins – Register for a box of pins to place in your workplace, school or community! 
• Shave or Dye – Why not brave the shave or dye your hair pink to raise funds! 
• Sober October – Go booze-free this October. You can do two weeks, three weeks or the whole month, it’s up to you! 
• Hold your own event – Have a different fundraiser in mind? Reach out to us at fundraising@irishcancer.ie and let us know what you are planning!

Our cancer research and vital free services like our Support Line, Transport Service, Daffodil Centres, Cancer information, financial grants and Night Nursing are fuelled by fundraising.

By hosting an event this October, you’re helping to transform the lives of families affected by breast cancer across the country.

What impact does fundraising have for breast cancer patients?

The Irish Cancer Society typically receives only 5% of its income from the Government, so it’s thanks to the generosity of our wonderful donors, fundraisers and volunteers that we can provide services and support to ensure nobody in Ireland faces breast cancer alone.  

• €35 can help provide transport for a breast cancer patient to and from their chemotherapy treatment using the Irish Cancer Society’s Transport Service.
• €50 can help provide vital clinical equipment for an Irish Cancer Society Night Nurse.
• €65 will help pay for the cost of one hour of Night Nursing, providing end of life care to a patient in their own home.
• €60 will cover the cost of a counselling session to help a person cope with a breast cancer diagnosis in their life.
• €525 will cover the cost of one night of Night Nursing, providing end of life care to a breast patient in their own home.

What are the transaction fees for online donations?

The transaction fees on the donation are the cost the charity incurs from their platform and payment provider to process your donation. By covering the fee, you ensure 100% of your donation goes to the charity. The cost is a percentage of your donation that varies depending on the donation value, typically around 5%, as set by the processor. 

How do I add offline donations to my fundraising page?

To add offline donations, go to your dashboard, where you can pay with money you've received offline. If you have any problems, please call us on 0818 10 20 30.

How to Lodge your funds?

• Lodge your funds online: Use our online form to submit your funds raised using your credit card or debit card. 

• Over the phone: Call the fundraising team on 0818 10 20 30 & donate by credit or debit card 
• At the bank: Pop into your local AIB bank and lodge using your bank giro, supplied in your pack. 

• • Our bank a/c details are as follows:

• By cheque or bank draft: Due to new banking procedures, all cheques must be made out to the Irish Cancer Society. Please write any further information on the back of the cheque. Pop a cheque or bank draft in the post with your name, address and supporter number, and send it to: Irish Cancer Society, 43/45 Northumberland Road, Dublin, D04 VX65. Please don't forget to quote your supporter number so that we know who the lodgement is from. 
  
  If you don't know your number, please call 0818 10 20 30 or email us before sending in your cheque. 

Will I receive a donation receipt?

If you have provided an email address when making your donation, a receipt will be sent to you via the address provided. If no email address was provided, please contact the Irish Cancer Society directly (0818 10 20 30 or fundraising@irishcancer.ie) to request a postal receipt.

Stock/Merchandise

What are the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, and how can I be breast aware?

If you have stock to return from your fundraising event, it can be sent by freepost to the address below. Make sure to include your name and supporter ID with your returns. If you aren’t sure what your supporter ID is, you can contact the Fundraising Team at 0818 10 20 30 or email fundraising@irishcancer.ie

What are the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, and how can I be breast aware?

It is important that everyone be breast aware. This means knowing what is normal for you, so that you can spot any changes. While breast cancer is more common in women over 50, those under 50 can also be affected.

Why is fundraising for breast cancer patients so important? 

Almost 3,500 women and approximately 35 men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in Ireland. All donations raised throughout October will go towards funding vital cancer research and support services for cancer patients across the country.

The more we raise, the more we can do, the more lifesaving research we can fund, the more vital free supports we can provide to everyone facing this disease, and the closer we come to a day when no one dies from breast cancer in Ireland.

About the Irish Cancer Society

What is the percentage of donations used for charitable expenditure?

For every euro spent by the Irish Cancer Society, 74c is spent on charitable activities. The remaining amount is spent by the Society to raise funds for its charitable activities. This increase was due to an increased investment in the Society’s national campaigns and individual giving campaigns.

What are you doing in terms of cancer research?

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the Irish Cancer Society has invested more than €30 million in cancer research over the past ten years. Every year, the Irish Cancer Society invests approximately €4 million in innovative cancer research, empowering dozens of Ireland's best and brightest to work on more than 75 research projects.

In 2024, the Society funded 25 new projects and supported over 150 cancer researchers across Ireland - all thanks to your support.
